Our Team

Ater Yuot R. Amogapi is an associate professor of electrical engineering and a researcher in renewable and non-renewable energy. He teaches electrical engineering at the University of Juba’s School of Engineering. His teaching and research activities include power systems, electrical machines, renewable energy sources, and petroleum engineering. In addition to his academic activities, he is a professional in South Sudan’s oil industry. He has been a consultant and planner for Darpetroleum Operating Company, DPOC, since 2012. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and a Master of Science (Technology) in Electrical Engineering, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. The degrees were awarded in sequence by Aalto University (2011), Finland; Helsinki University of Technology (2007), Finland; and Sudan University of Science and Technology (2001), Sudan. Dr Ater is currently the Managing Director of the Yuot Institute for Energy Studies, YIES, in South Sudan.

Ollia Smamel J Walla is a senior electrical engineer with roughly 13 years of experience in project management and consulting. He has collaborated with various engineering firms across sectors, including Tractors, Roads, Construction, Electrical, and Oil & Gas. Ollia holds two Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and Project Planning and Management from the University of Juba, obtained between 2019 and 2025. He earned his initial degree in electrical engineering from the Sudan University of Science and Technology in 2001. Ollia is registered with the Engineering Council of South Sudan as a professional engineer. Presently, he serves as the Director of Training at the Yuot Institute for Energy Studies.

Mayor Enock Manyiel is an accomplished Information Technology and Systems Engineering professional with over 18 years of international experience spanning IT leadership, systems engineering, telecommunications, banking technology, and oil & gas operations. He has held senior leadership positions, including IT Manager at DPOC in South Sudan, where he led enterprise IT strategy, cybersecurity implementation, infrastructure management, and digital transformation initiatives for both office and field operations. Mr Manyiel possesses extensive expertise in IT operations management, helpdesk administration, network communications, cloud platforms, data centre design, and systems integration. His professional background also includes advanced engineering and defence communications experience with SPAWAR in San Diego, California, where he contributed to satellite communications systems, antenna engineering, and network emulation technologies. He holds a Master of Science in Systems Architecting and Engineering from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. His qualifications are complemented by multiple professional certifications in cybersecurity, networking, and enterprise systems. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated strong leadership, strategic planning, and technical innovation, earning several professional awards and honours for excellence in communications and engineering. He is currently Director for IT at the Yuot Institute for Energy Studies.

Peter Justin Jakwot is a highly experienced planning and development professional with over 15 years of leadership across humanitarian, education, communication, and organisational management sectors in South Sudan and East Africa. He specialises in strategic planning, project management, budgeting, grant proposal development, operational communication, and community engagement. Academically, he holds an MSc in Organisational Psychology, a Master’s in Development Studies, and a Master’s in Diplomacy, Peace and Development, supported by degrees in Philosophy, Humanities, and Theological Studies. His strong academic foundation and practical field experience enable him to design sustainable solutions, strengthen institutions, and lead impactful development initiatives with professionalism and integrity. He is currently the Director of Planning at Yuot Institute for Energy Studies.
